Webhook
A webhook is a way to extend a web application's behavior through custom callbacks. These are "user-defined HTTP callbacks" triggered by an event: the source website sends an HTTP request to a configured address.

In business automation
A webhook is suitable when one system needs to notify another about an event, without repeatedly checking whether anything has changed. The event starts a process; it does not prove that handling is complete.
Examples
These examples illustrate a possible workflow. Adapt the connections and rules to your own systems.
Business process example
After an order is placed in a store, a notification containing the order ID arrives. The automation verifies the sender, records the event, and starts preparing a shipping task. A repeated notification with the same ID does not create another task.

- The store can send events to integrations; the handling process needs to identify the order and prevent duplicates.
What to check
- Check source authentication, duplicate notifications, and event order. A late-arriving event may describe a state that has already changed.
