In business automation

An action is a defined change or request within a process. Specify its input, success condition, and an output that the next step can use, such as the ID of a created record.

Examples

These examples illustrate a possible workflow. Adapt the connections and rules to your own systems.

Business process example

After the customer is approved, an action creates an installation task and returns a task ID. The automation saves it to the customer record, so a retry updates the task instead of creating another one.

Relevant tools

Make
Modules perform actions in apps and pass their results to the next part of the scenario.

What to check

  • Check the action's result itself. A successful network request does not always mean every record in a batch was successful.
