Retell's voice agents now handle more than 100 million calls a month for contact centers, running on OpenAI models
In a customer story on the OpenAI blog, Retell AI, a platform for building voice agents for contact centers, says it serves more than 4,000 businesses. Its monthly call volume grew from 30 million in early 2026 to more than 100 million by September, and OpenAI models generate the responses on 80% of its calls. Contact center teams define each agent's business context, goals and rules, and developers configure workflows and integrations. During a call the model generates responses and requests tool calls, which Retell executes through integrations with the customer's systems and can write back to a customer record. When human judgment is needed, the agent briefs a representative with context before connecting the caller, and after the call a model analyzes the transcript to extract outcomes. Retell reports customer resolution rates above 80%. At Anker, agents handle Tier 1 post-sales support in the US and UK, including order tracking, warranty checks and troubleshooting, with an 80.4% case resolution rate. The post does not give pricing.
