HTTP request

HTTP is a protocol for transferring HTML pages and objects over the web. Communication begins with an exchange between a client and a server, from which requests such as GET or POST follow. REST calls, webhooks, and most cloud APIs are based on these requests.

In business automation

An HTTP request is the unit of communication between services. When building an integration, define the method, URL, headers, and request body, then interpret both the status and the response content.

Examples

These examples illustrate a possible workflow. Adapt the connections and rules to your own systems.

Business process example

The automation sends a POST request to create a task with a customer name and due date. It saves the returned task ID, and on an authentication failure it stops instead of retrying the unchanged request.
