Context window

In OpenAI documentation, the context window is the model's memory limit for a single generation request: how much data it can consider at one time. It is measured in tokens (pieces of input such as text or images), and its size varies between models.

In business automation

The context window limits the information the model can receive and process within a request. Instructions, history, and the answer also take up space, so a long conversation requires information management, not just adding more text.

Examples

These examples illustrate a possible workflow. Adapt the connections and rules to your own systems.

Business process example

A service bot summarizes actions that have already been approved and saves the order ID, instead of resending every previous message. Before replying, it retrieves current information using the ID.

What to check

  • A summary may omit an important detail. Store operational facts such as customer approval in structured fields, not only in a free-form summary.
