Announcing WhatsApp Business Tools MCP: Set up and manage WhatsApp business from your AI agent
On September 15, 2026, Meta's developer blog introduces WhatsApp Business Tools MCP, an MCP server that connects coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT to the WhatsApp Business platform. The agent can check terms of service, create a business account, add and register a number to the Cloud API, create message templates, send a test message and set up webhooks. Sign-in is through Facebook Login for Business with defined permissions, with no tokens in the prompt history, and state changes require a verified human. The tool is intended for development and testing (not large-scale production sending) and is rolling out gradually.
