OpenAI to acquire Pierre to expand Codex Git tools for coding agents
OpenAI announced it will acquire Pierre Computer Company, the team behind Code Storage and a family of open-source developer tools. OpenAI says Pierre's Trees and Diffs libraries are already used inside the Codex app for browsing files and reviewing changes. The stated goal is to adapt Git workflows for teams that work with coding agents, from the first branch an agent creates through deploy. Pierre also released Highlights, a fast syntax highlighter that updates as a developer types or an agent streams code. OpenAI says Pierre's open-source projects will stay open source, and Code Storage customers can keep using the service after closing while its features move into Codex. Closing is subject to customary regulatory conditions.
