Make explains the execution layer agents need for reliable work: Functions, Endpoints, Agentic Knowledge and MCP toolboxes
In a post on the Make blog, Valery Mezencev writes that getting an AI agent to do a task once in a chat is easy, but getting it to do the same work reliably inside a company is much harder, and a smarter model does not fix that. Make calls the missing piece an execution layer and splits it into four parts: Functions, small saved pieces of code so the agent does a repeated job the same way every time; Endpoints, access to business systems through the connections a team already manages in Make instead of handing out credentials; Agentic Knowledge, a shared place for product details, policies and guides that every agent reads from and people can edit; and MCP toolboxes, which define in advance exactly which functions, systems, knowledge and scenarios a given agent may use, and work with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Microsoft Copilot. According to the post the layer does not replace scenarios, and an agent can call a scenario when a task needs deterministic execution. The post does not give availability or pricing.
