OpenAI makes the Decisions API generally available for fast, low-cost decisions inside apps and agents

OpenAI announced that the Decisions API is now generally available. Built on GPT-6 Luna, it targets the small, repeated decisions inside workflows and agents, such as classifying an input, routing a request or picking the next action, and OpenAI says it answers up to 10x faster than GPT-6 Luna through the Responses API. Developers define a question and its allowed answers, pass context as text, images or JSON, and get one of three answer types: a probability that a condition is true, a choice from preset options (for example whether an agent should continue, retry or ask for clarification), or a score on a rubric. Since the beta it gained a native GPT-Live integration for voice, prompt caching, US and EU processing, and up to 400 questions per request. Customers quoted include Box for document routing, Datadog for scoring the risk of agent-generated commands before they run, and Sierra for choosing the next action in live support conversations. Pricing is $0.10 per million input tokens, with no output-token charges.
