Coralogix CEO: we are asking agents questions our data systems were never built to answer
Ariel Assaraf, co-founder and CEO of Coralogix, writes in an opinion column in CTech that an AI agent inherits the limits of the data an organization chose to keep. In the example of a failed bank transfer, an agent can follow the transaction through the system and test several explanations, unless the trace was sampled out, the relevant field was dropped or the logs have already expired. Because detailed telemetry was expensive, teams kept only what their dashboards and expected investigations needed, so an agent may write a correct query against incomplete data and produce a convincing explanation. In his view the agent needs to query the original records, extract a field it has not used before and connect events across services, and it must know whether a query completed, returned only part of the data or found no matching events. The full history should not be fed into a prompt: the agent retrieves the evidence it needs within its permissions, and if it proposes a change, the evidence must be checked, authorization enforced before execution and the result observed, including the business outcome. At Coralogix, he says, telemetry is analyzed as it arrives, kept in an open format in the customer's own object storage and queried directly.
